Cepu block produces 1,000 barrels per day in Dec 2008

Central Java Governor Ali Mufiz said ExxonMobil along with Indonesian state oil and gas company PT Pertamina have decided to start exploring the Cepu Block earlier than planned, to enable it to produce 1,000 barrels of oil per day starting early in December 2008.

The explorations early in December 2008 means the schedule had been moved forward from the original plan set for early in 2009.

"In the early stages, only 1,000 barrels would be produced each day, but Exxon had said that in a not too distant future the output would be raised to 20,000 barrels per day," the governor added.

He assured that Central Java will benefit from the production, because the Central Java Provincial Administration also has a 10 percent stake in the form of participating interest (PI) along with the East Java provincial administration, Bojonegaoro and Blora regencies.

The four regions also had formed a regional administration business enterprise, namely PT Sarana Patra Hulu Cepu (C Java), PT Petro Gas Jatim Utama Cendana (E Java), PT Blora Patragas Hulu (Blora), and PT Asri Dharma Sejahtera (Bojonegoro).
