Germany and Indonesia discuss potential geothermal energy sources

To overcome the current electricity crisis in Indonesia, EKONID (German-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and DENA (German Energy Agency) held a geothermal energy symposium in Jakarta Tuesday. In dealing with renewable geothermal energy sources, the government has issued seven regulations," Luluk Soemarso said on behalf of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro.

Government policies are securing sustainable energy supply to support national interests. Meanwhile the mission is aimed at securing energy supplies, improving added value of energy sources, managing energy ethically sustainably and preserving the environment, providing affordable energy for the poor, and developing national capabilities, he said. Luluk added that the National Energy Policy is aimed at improving the role of the energy business, achieving an electrification ratio of 90% by 2020, realizing energy infrastructure facilities, increasing strategic partnerships, decreasing energy intensity by 1% per year, and increasing local contents.

Indonesia is a potential country that could provide 40 percent of the world`s electricity needs, 27.6 Gigawatts, Dr. Surya Darma, President of the Indonesian Geothermal Association said here. However, only 1,025 GW geothermal power plants are built in Indonesia with installed capacities of 9500 MW in the 2004 - 2025 period, he said.. He said Indonesia has developed 18 geothermal sites, 15 are operated by Pertamina, one by a private company, another one by a cooperative organization, and still another one by state power company PT PLN, to generate more than 2000 MW in the next four years.

Kuwait invests US$300 million in Mamuju, West Sulawesi

A Kuwaiti company, Gulf Investment House (GIH), has invested around US$300 million in Mamuju district, Mamuju, West Sulawesi, through capital participation in the Mamuju regional company (Perusda Mamuju).

The memorandum of understanding on the investment was signed by Perusda Mamuju`s president director Benyamin S and GIH`s president director Raseed Al-Badab here on Tuesday, in the presence of Mamuju district head Suhardi Duka and the chairman of the district`s legislative assembly, Thamrin Endeng.

Raseed Al-Badab said on the occasion that his company was attracted to invest in Mamuju because of the region`s natural as well as human resource pontentials that could be exploited to support investment activities.

He said his company had had investments almost across the world such as Europe and America but because it was difficult to develop them the company decided to move them to Asia and to Indonesia in particular.

"We are attracted to invest in Indonesia and in Mamuju in particular because most of the country`s population are Moslem and therefore making it easier for the company to conduct shariah-based investment," he said.

He said he hoped the investment that his company had put in Mamuju would be successful so that it could contribute positively to the development of the company as well as the people in the region.

Suhardi Duka meanwhile said that the US$300 million investment was an initial GIH capital participation as a contractor for Perusda Mamuju before it would later invest in West Sulawesi in line with the existing law.

He said GIH would invest in the region for 30 years to process natural resources in Mamuju such as oil and gas, gold, coal, nickel, iron ore and potentials in the forestry as well as plantation sector.

In view of that he said he asked Perusda Mamuju as a GIH partner to cooperate professionally and transparently with the Middle Eastern company.

"We hope that the investment of GIH could empower the local people and increase local income for raising the living standard of the people," he said.

President Yudhoyono opens Trade Expo Indonesia 2008

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono opened the 23rd Trade Expo Indonesia 2008 at the Jakarta International Expo ground in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday. Themed "What Happens to a World without Indonesia" the Trade Expo Indonesia 2008 from October 21-25 is participated in by at least 850 small- and medium-scale (UKM) businessmen, state enterprises (BUMNs), cooperatives, and 12 provincial administrations.

In his opening address, President Yudhoyono called on his countrymen to love domestic products in accordance with the government`s policy to strengthen the domestic market and to save foreign exchange by reducing imports.

On the occasion the head of state was accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Transportation Minister Jusman Syafeii Djamal, Industry Minister Fahmi Idris, State Minister for Environment Affairs Rachmat Witoelar, and Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Freddy Numberi.

Before opening the expo, President Yudhoyono presented Primadiyarta awards to 27 exporters. The award has been periodically presented by the government to outstanding exporters since 1992 but it was stopped during the monetary crisis in 1998-200, and then was reactivated in 2001. The presentation of the awards was intended to motivate the exporters to increase non-oil and non-gas exports, and to step up the number of non-oil and non-gas exporters.

Trade Expo 2008 is expected to generate trade transactions worth up to US$220 million or up by US$20 million from US$200 million booked during the same event last year. At least 2,300 foreign buyers from 108 countries have expressed readiness to visit Indonesia`s greatest trade promotion this year. Indonesia`s ten main products being introduced in this year`s expo are furniture, electronics, footwear, shrimp, coffee, cacao, rubber and rubber products, automotive components, palm oil, and textiles/textile products. More than 800 participants from various provinces across the country are also exhibiting their top quality products which are expected to attract foreign buyers.

PT Dirgantara Indonesia bidik pendapatan Rp 1 triliun

PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) menargetkan pendapatan tahun 2008 Rp 1 triliun. Perusahaan optimistis mencapai target itu karena banyak kontrak yang didapat.

"Kami optimistis target pendapatan tahun ini sebesar Rp 1 triliun dapat tercapai mengingat kontrak pembuatan komponen pesawat cukup banyak dan masih meningkat," kata Direktur Utama PTDI Budi Santoso, di kantor BUMN, Gedung Garuda, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta, Selasa (21/10/2008).

Menurutnya, mulai tahun ini kontribusi pendapatan perseroan yang berasal dari pembuatan komponen dan jasa akan ditingkatkan menjadi sekitar 60 persen. Sebelumnya kontribusinya hanya 30-40 persen. "Kontribusi pembuatan aircraft akan diturunkan menjadi sekitar 40 persen," jelasnya.

Namun ia mengaku bukan berarti PTDI tidak fokus pada pembuatan pesawat, akan tetapi memang order penyediaan komponen tahun ini justru sedang banyak dari perusahaan produsen pesawat internasional.

Sayangnya, ia enggan menyebutkan besaran nilai kontrak pembuatan komponen pesawat yang diraih perusahaan hingga saat ini.

Ia hanya menjelaskan, pada 20 Oktober 2008 kemarin, perseroan meraih kontrak penyediaan komponen helikopter Super Puma MK II senilai 42 juta dolar AS dari Eurocopter.

Selain itu, perseroan juga telah memperoleh kontrak penyediaan sayap depan (leading edge) pesawat Airbus A380 dan A320 yang masa kontraknya mulai 2002 hingga 2012.

Sedangkan untuk jasa pembuatan pesawat, perseroan sudah melakukan pembicaraan dengan Korea guna membangun empat pesawat patroli.

"Pihak Korea sudah menyiapkan dana sekitar US$ 30 juta per pesawat. Nilai kontraknya tidak bisa disebutkan karena spesifikasinya berbeda-beda," imbuhnya.

Kadin desak produk import konsumtif dikenakan disinsentif

Kamar dagang dan Industri (Kadin) Indonesia mendesak pemerintah untuk segera menerapkan kebijakan disinsentif terhadap produk-produk impor.

"Perlu segera ada disinsentif untuk barang impor yang konsumtif. Kalau impor barang baku dan barang modal nggak masalah, artinya ada industri yang tumbuh," kata Ketua Kadin, MS Hidayat disela-sela acara rakornas Kadin di Hotel Sahid, Jalan Sudirman, Jakarta, Selasa (21/10//2008).

Penerapan disinsentif terhadap produk konsumtif ini menurut Hidayat, bisa dalam bentuk kenaikan bea masuk (BM), yang semuanya mengarah pada proteksi baik tarif maupun non tarif. Produk-produk impor konsumtif antara lain produk tekstil garmen, makanan dan minuman, elektronik dan lain-lain.

"Saya mengusulkan agar pemerintah concern terhadap industrialisasi baru, sehingga jangan ada tekanan dana devisa karena impor yang tidak penting," ucapnya. Dikatakanya dengan konsen industrilisasi baru, maka pemerintah sudah siap ketika Indonesia bergerak menjadi negara yang punya kekuatan industri. Sehingga impor bahan baku maupun barang modal juga bisa ditekan.

Hidayat juga meminta agar pemerintah tetap membatasi ekspor sawit mentah crude palm oil (CPO). dikurangi volumenya agar kebutuhan pengolahan produksi di dalam negeri bisa diutamakan.

Gaji Guru Naik 100 Persen

Berbahagialah bagi pahlawan tanpa tanda jasa alias guru dan dosen, nasib mereka berangsur-angsur bersinar lagi. Panitia Kerja (Panja) Belanja Pusat, Panitia Anggaran DPR telah menyetujui kenaikan gaji guru pada 2009 hingga 100 persen.Bila pendapatan mereka pada tahun ini maksimal 2,4 juta (gol IV/E bersertifikat), maka 2009 bakal mendapatkan gaji sebesar Rp 5,4 juta. Belum lagi tunjangan khusus bagi guru yang berada di daerah terpencil (gurdacil) yang diperkirakan sebesar Rp 5,1 juta. Jadi, perbulannya mereka bakal mendapat gaji di atas Rp 10 juta, kalau tunjangan gurdacilnya juga disetujui."Untuk besaran gaji sudah final.

Sedangkan tunjangan khusus gurdacil hingga kini besarannya masih diperdepatkan, tetapi usulannya tetap akan dinaikkan yaitu bagi guru di daerah-daerah pedalaman seperti Papua, Maluku dan Kalimantan," kata anggota Panja asal PDI Perjuangan, Rudianto Tjen kepada PersdaNetwork di Jakarta, Senin (20/10).Lebih jauh, jelas anggota DPR asal Bangka Belitung ini, untuk gurdacil, bila pada 2008 ini kuotanya hanya untuk 20.000 orang gaji, pada 2009 mendatang akan ditambah 10.000 lagi hingga menjadi 30.000 orang guru.Kenaikan gaji guru ini telah disepakati oleh seluruh anggota Panja Belanja Pusat dan Departemen Pendidikan Nasional. Disebutkan, gaji terendah yaitu untuk guru pegawai negari sipil (PNS) dengan golongan II/B tidak bersertifikat (0 tahun) yang tadinya mendapat gaji sebesar Rp 1,55 juta, akan memperoleh gaji bulanan Rp 2,07 juta. Sedangkan gaji untuk guru PNS tertinggi dengan golongan IV/E bersertifikat (0 tahun) yang saat ini digaji Rp 2,43 juta bakal melonjak menjadi Rp 5,42 juta.

Perubahan pendapatan juga bakal dialami oleh guru tetap non PNS. Bila pengajar PNS mendapatkan kenaikan gaji, maka tunjangan fungsional guru tetap non PNS akan naik, untuk yang non S1 naik dari Rp 200 ribu menjadi Rp 250.000, sedangkan yang S1 naik dari Rp 200 ribu menjadi Rp 300.000.Untuk dosen PNS golongan III/B belum bersertifikat (0 tahun) yang tahun ini gajinya Rp 1,8 juta akan naik menjadi Rp 2,26 juta per bulan. Sedangkan untuk tingkat guru besar, gajinya bakal melonjak besar dari Rp 5,12 juta menjadi Rp 13,53 juta per bulan. "Gaji tersebut sudah termasuk seluruh pendapatan per bulan (take home pay/THP)," ujar Rudianto.

Menurutnya, untuk gaji 2009 ini, pemerintah telah menyiapkan dana sebesar kurang lebih Rp 50 triliun. Anggaran tersebut akan dimasukkan dalam Undang-Undang APBN 2009 yang rencananya disahkan dalam rapat paripurna DPR tanggal 28 Oktober mendatang.Selain itu, Sekretaris Fraksi PAN ini juga menandaskan, pemerintah harus terus meningkatkan jumlah guru yang bersertifikat. Guru nantinya akan disertifikasi agar memenuhi standar
mutu pendidikan nasional.

Saat ini, dari 2,7 orang guru yang ada di Indonesia, baru hanya 300.000 saja yang tersentifikasi. Untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan, jelasnya, tahun 2009 ditargetkan jumlah guru yang tersertifikasi berjumlah 1 juta orang guru. "Lambat laut seluruh guru akan tersertifikasi," kata Yasin.
